I’ve been knitting for 63 years, usually working on items for others. Very rarely do I knit for myself unless it’s a pair of mittens. I love trying new techniques, and designs, however, I find myself being pulled back to tried and true items such as a warm sweater, blankets, mitts and socks etc. Knitting or crocheting travel wherever I go – vacations, work, medical appointments you name it my knitting/crochet has probably been there. I love doing custom orders for people, especially items for baby shower gifts.I get inspired by Icelandic, Norwegian and Finnish knits and am in awe of the colour work from Shetland and Fairisle. I’m not opposed to using a good synthetic but love the feel of pure rustic wool. When doing orders I have a number of questions for my customers so that their item is to their liking and that it gives me joy while creating the item. I believe that everyone should have at least one item in their possession that is a hand knit or crocheted item – to me hand knits say I love you. As for the yarn, I’m lucky to be able to find goodies from around the world at my finger tips at my wool shop.
