This hand coiled moon jar is a beautiful meeting of ancient tradition and contemporary craftsmanship. Inspired by historic Korean ceramics, the softly rounded form has been carefully built by hand using traditional coiling techniques, giving the vessel an organic elegance and quiet sense of movement that could never be replicated by machine.
The surface has been finished using the ancient Korean buncheong technique, where layers of slip and glaze create depth, texture, and spontaneity within the piece. Across the body, the maker’s own hand carved floral stamp repeats in rhythmic patterns, wrapping the jar in a delicate botanical motif that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
Rich flowing glazes of sapphire blue, turquoise, and sea green cascade from the rim like rainfall over a garden, pooling and breaking beautifully across the stamped surface. The glossy finish enhances the layered colours and subtle textures, allowing the piece to shift in character as the light moves across it.
Both sculptural and functional, this one-of-a-kind moon jar makes a striking statement whether displayed on its own or filled with branches or flowers. Rooted in centuries of ceramic tradition yet unmistakably modern in expression, it is a piece that celebrates artistry, heritage, and the beauty of the handmade.
